We are so happy to invite you to share this special milestone with our family!

All guests are warmly invited to the Saturday events—the morning Bat Mitzvah service itself, the lunch onsite at temple afterwards and the evening celebration in Washington, DC.

If you are joining from out of town, we hope you’ll also come for the Friday night dinner and a casual Sunday morning brunch at our home; we’d love the extra time together.

Please use this link to RSVP by May 1.

We've also shared some details for you about each event and what to expect below!

Have questions we didn't cover here? Feel free to reach out anytime. We’re happy to answer any questions.

Friday Night Services
6:30-7:30ish pm

While this is really not the "main event" where Addie becomes a Bat Mitzvah, there is a briefer Friday night service to begin Shabbat for our congregation.  For our family or out-of-towners who will have arrived already, you are welcome to join us if you wish!

Of note, once a year, our temple hosts what they refer to as "Hot Shabbat" -- where services are held outside on the temple grounds and there is a planned carnival to start summer.  We happen to have that service!  Hot Shabbat is apparently shorter and more casual than traditional services (our Cantor has mentioned he will be in shorts and a Hawaiian shirt!).  We are thinking sundresses, polo shirts or similar is fine.  If there is inclement weather, the service will be moved indoors to its typical location inside the sanctuary.

Bat Mitzvah Ceremony and Brunch
10:30am

Religiously-speaking, this is the main event!

Addie will be called to the read from the torah, signifying her becoming

an adult in the Jewish tradition.  Since we will be in the synagogue, recommended attire is business casual or semiformal (typically suits for men, dresses or similar for women).

A light celebratory lunch will immediately follow the service at the synagogue.
